In this blog I will express my personal opinions, ideas and thoughts on topics related to Earth observation, remote sensing and space science in general. I will talk about current news and developments, and there may be more that is not yet known, even to me.

Introduction of the EOMasters Toolbox Pro and launch discount

Updated: Aug 7

End of April I've released the EOMasters Toolbox freely available to everyone. Which will have the name extension 'Basic' from now on, because now the EOMasters Toolbox Pro is released.

The pro version provides enhanced features and additional scientific tools on top of the basic toolbox. The toolbox starts with three unique features.

Asset Library

The Asset Library allows you to collect the resources you most often use and have them accessible at any time without having to navigate through deeply nested directories in your file system or lookup the definition elsewhere. An asset is defined by general properties like its name, a brief description, and tags. In addition, it has type specific properties like a file path, a colour, or an expression. It is also possible to add notes to an asset.

The user-friendly graphical interface allows you to group your assets by type, by tag or even without any grouping (plain). You can search and filter your assets for text occurrences in the properties of the assets. By simply selecting the asset and pressing the plus sign you can easily add the asset to a data product opened in SNAP.

At the beginning three distinct types of assets can be added to the library:

  • Sites - Locations on Earth which can be used as Pins, GCPs or point geometries.

  • Geometry - Area on Earth which can be used as geometries.

  • Mask - Region in satellite imagery defined by expressions.

More types are planned. For example, Virtual Bands, Rasters and Graph XML Files.

SpeX

Now almost all spectral indices you can think of are just a few clicks away.

SpeX is comprised of a database which holds more than 240 commonly used spectral indices and a SNAP operator to execute them. The processor allows you to compute multiple indices in one processing run and you can even add your own to the processing and to the database for later use.

As resource for the database two well-known online databases have been used.

Coastal Map

This gives you easy access to the Coastal Map which provides 4 important indicators for coastal areas.

  • a land-water indicator

  • a coastline indicator

  • a tidal flat indicator

  • a vicinity indicator for land close to water and water close to land

The data of this map is freely available and described in the technical paper. The tool included makes the download easier, allows to add coastal map bands directly to your products and provides you flags and masks for the indicators allowing for an easier workflow.

Available in the EOMasters Shop

The Pro Toolbox is now available in the EOMasters Shop at a special launch price. Within the first month (till end of August) you get a 25% discount. The discount will be considered during the checkout process, and you can purchase for just 18.75 €.

This is only the first release and more shall come. There are several ideas floating in my mind. Some still for this major release version and other for upcoming versions.
